About Us
The South Florida First Responders Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is proud to host a community benefit race dedicated to supporting the mental health of South Florida's First Responders.
They’ve always been there for us—now it’s our turn to be there for them.
This family-friendly event will feature a Fun Run, 1-Mile, 5K, and 10K race, welcoming runners, walkers, and spectators from across the region. Participants will include members of our local running community as well as First Responders from Police, Fire Rescue, Ocean Rescue, Military, and more.
Where the Proceeds Go
All proceeds (minus vendor fees) will be donated to:
Broward Sheriff's Office Benevolent Association
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Benevolent Association
Pompano Beach Ocean Rescue Benevolent Association
These organizations directly assist First Responders and their families during times of hardship and crisis.
Additional support will go to:
Stomping Out the Stigma – Provides free, confidential mental health counseling for First Responders. No names, no insurance, no reports—just help.
First Responders Foundation (Florida Chapter) – Rescues and places emotional support dogs with First Responders in need.

Volunteer With Us
The Heroes Run relies on the incredible support of volunteers to ensure a safe, fun, and successful event for everyone involved. Join us in giving back to the firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and emergency workers who serve our community every day.
Whether you’re looking to support a great cause, earn community service hours, or just be part of something meaningful—there’s a place for you on race day.
Volunteer Roles Available:

Registration / Information Booth – 5–6 volunteers
Assist with check-in, bib and shirt distribution, and answering participant questions. -
Start & Finish Line Support – 10–15 volunteers
Help with runner staging, medal handouts, water distribution, and post-race logistics. -
Aid Station Crew (3 Stations) – 30–35 volunteers
Keep runners hydrated and motivated by handing out water and cheering along the route. -
Directional Run Marshalls – 30–35 volunteers
Guide runners along the course and help manage intersections and safe crossings. -
Environmental / Clean-Up Team – 30–40 volunteers
Support event sustainability by helping with trash collection, recycling, and clean-up before and after the race. -
Lead Bike Riders – 2–3 volunteers
Pace and lead the front runners to ensure the course is clear and properly followed. -
Last Bike / Sweep Riders – 2–3 volunteers
Follow the final participants to ensure everyone finishes safely and no one is left behind. -
General Support / Floaters – 10–15 volunteers
Step in where needed on race day to keep everything running smoothly.
