Answers to common questions about the event...
Competition Questions
Is there a team time limit?
With our new date, we have a little more flexibility around time. Please aim to have your team compete the marathon within 4 hours.
What about a team size limit?
All teams must be between 6-13 runners. If you have fewer than 6 runners register, we will combine small teams.
Can we have multiple teams for our club?
Possibly. To allow all clubs a chance to compete with a limited capacity, we are limiting each club to one team until after 8/13. If space still remains at that point, we allow clubs to add a second team provided their first team has more than 10 runners.
How is the race timed?
By you! Each team should bring a stopwatch or other device to record your lap times. Boards on-site will be available to track the number of miles your team has completed.
What is the course like? Should I wear spikes?
The course is mostly trail, with some areas that cover roots and other minor impediments. However, there is a significant section that follows the road in The Woodlands. To protect the grounds, spikes are not allowed.
Does everyone run this 1 mile at a time? Is it OK for someone to run more than 1 leg?
The race rules are pretty simple. You will create a team roster of up to 13 people (but no fewer than 6). Runners will then run their one mile loops one at a time. Runners will hand off the team's baton from one runner to the next. After your full roster of runners has completed their first loop, you will start from the top and repeat. If you have fewer than 13 runners on your team, some of your runners will need to run more than two loops, so you should order your team appropriately so that the first runners are the ones that run the extra loop.
Fun Questions
Is there an after-party? Can we stick around and picnic at the Woodlands afterwards?
The 26x1 is one big party so we are not planning an official after-party for the event. We encourage you to bring some food and drinks to partake during the race. However, no cooking/grilling or open flames are allowed.
Is the Woodlands pet friendly?
Yes it absolutely is! Dogs must be leashed at all times, but they are very welcome!
Refunds, Transfers, Team Changes, and Cancellations
If I change my mind about running or get hurt, can I transfer my registration to another runner?
Yes. You can transfer your registration to someone else until 9/12 (11:59pm). There is no charge for transferring; you will need to work out an offline financial arrangement with the person you are transferring to.This how-to explains how to do so via your RunSignup profile: https://help.runsignup.com/support/solutions/articles/17000062921-transfer-to-another-runner
Can I change teams?
Yes. You can change teams anytime before 9/12 (11:59pm). There is no charge for changing teams. This how-to explains how to do so via your RunSignup profile: https://help.runsignup.com/support/solutions/articles/17000062681-join-an-existing-group.
I registered, but I cannot run the race anymore. Can I get a refund?
Because the costs for this event are fixed, we cannot offer refunds for any reason. However, if you can no longer run, we recommend looking for someone interested in a transfer (details above).
What happens if the weather is bad? Will the race get cancelled?
The race will proceed in less-than-ideal conditions. However, we do have to be good stewards of the Woodlands and conscientious of runner safety. In the event of significant weather forcing a cancellation, the race will be moved to Sunday, 9/14. If neither date is possible due to weather, we will work with the Woodlands to reschedule when it's mutually possible and will communicate those details as soon as we know.
