FAQs

FAQs for the 2nd Annual West End Neighborhood House Fire Truck Pull!

Q: What is the Fire Truck Pull?
A: A high-energy fundraising event where teams of up to 8 compete to pull a firetruck using a heavy-duty rope—powered and safeguarded by Wilmington Fire Department personnel. It’s about strength, teamwork, spirit, and community impact.

Q: Who can participate?
A: Ages 14+ are welcome (14–17 require a parent/guardian waiver). All fitness levels are encouraged—it’s about teamwork and fun as much as strength.

Q: How do I register?
A: Registration is $25 per person. You can:

  • Sign up solo and be placed on a team.

  • Join an existing team (if you are affiliated with that group).

  • Create a new team (up to 8 people -  you can start with fewer, and we’ll combine incomplete teams if needed).
Each participant pays individually - teams do not need to pay the full $200 upfront.

  • Register by 10/6 to receive an event T-shirt.

  • Online registration closes 10/15. Walk-ups are welcome (T-shirts not guaranteed after 10/3).

Q: How does the competition work?
A:  Teams are assigned start times by Challenge Bracket.

  • Each Challenge crowns a Challenge Winner.

  • The 4 Challenge Winners then face off in the Final Four Pull-Off, with the fastest pull crowned the Overall Champion.

  • All other Bracket Winners are re-pooled by time; the top 2 face off in a Wild Card Pull-Off → Wild Card Champion.

  • Where possible, teams are matched against similar groups (e.g., business vs. business), which also supports the Fastest Category awards.

  • Awards include Overall and Wild Card Champions, 4 Challenge Winners, Fastest Category, and Best Costume.

Q: What if my team doesn’t have 8 people?
A: No problem! Teams can be created with fewer than 8 members. Each participant registers individually ($25 each). If a team is incomplete, additional individuals may be added or teams may be combined so everyone gets to participate.

Q: Do I need to be super strong to participate?
A: Not at all! Success comes from teamwork, timing, and energy. Creativity is celebrated with our Best Costume award.

Q: What can spectators expect?
A: A family-friendly community day with food trucks, vendors, mascots (TBD), guest appearances, and auction/raffle prizes.

Q: Where do all the proceeds go?
A: Proceeds support West End Neighborhood House programs in housing, education, employment, family services, and financial empowerment—helping individuals and families across Delaware.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Closed-toe athletic shoes are required for safety. Costumes and team spirit gear are encouraged; gloves optional (will have some available).

Q: Is the event family-friendly?
A: Absolutely! Food, fun, and cheering sections make it a great day for all ages.

Q: How can I support if I don’t want to pull?
A: You can:

  • Attend as a spectator

  • Become a Sponsor

  • Make a donation

  • Bid in the auction

  • Cheer and spread the word

Q: Where is the venue?
A: Behind Wilmington Blue Rocks Stadium. Parking between Frawley Dr and Shipyard Dr.
