Bag Drop/Gear Check

March 13, 2027

Details

Athletes will have a gear drop ticket on their bibs and may choose to leave a drop bag near registration. Volunteers will make sure every bag left at the Bag Drop location has a gear drop ticket attached to the bag.
Volunteers will arrange these bags in three groups; Half, 10k and 5k, then arrange the bags in each group in numerical order. Runners will pick up their bags after they finish their race.
Note: When a runner comes to pick up their bag, make sure the ticket number on the bag matches the runner's bib number.

Course Sentries

Course Sentries- Section 1

Details

Provide course directions at key intersections. Cheer for racers and provide encouragement. This section is on the Half, 10k and 5k courses.
Note: Course Sentries should remain in place until the Half Marathon DLPF (Designated Last Place Finisher) lets them know the last runner has passed.

Location

These spots are near the race site on the first 1.5 miles of the course. These spots can be accessed by walking from Public Square Park, by bike or by car.

Course Sentries- Section 2

Provide course directions at key intersections. Cheer for racers and provide encouragement. This section is on the Half, 10k and 5k courses.
Note: Course Sentries should remain in place until the Half Marathon DLPF (Designated Last Place Finisher) lets them know the last runner has passed.

Location

These spots are located between mile 1.5 and mile 3 of the Half/10k/5k course and are a short walk from the parking area near the Riverview Pavilion.

Course Sentries- Section 3

Location

These spots are located between mile 3 and mile 7.5 on the Half marathon course. Spots are a short walk or bike ride from the Forest Green Trailhead parking area or the Cornelia Fort Airpark parking area.

Prepare water and energy drink for Aid Station. Replenish as necessary. Cheer for and encourage participants! Clean area and Aid Station supplies when done and pickup cups for disposal.

Note: This Aid Station serves the Half marathon, 10k & 5k runners twice.

Location

Water station #1 is located at approximately mile .75/5.25/12 close to the intersection of 3rd Avenue North and the Cumberland River Greenway.

Welcome runners across the Finish Line!
Provide finisher medal, water and/or energy drink to participants after they cross the finish line. Direct participants to the Post-Race Area for refreshments and other festivities.

Post-race Food Area- (set up, serve & replenish)

Details

Assist with setting up, serving and replenishing the post race food area. Participants must have a food ticket from their race bib or volunteer wristband to enter food area. Each person is limited to one sandwich and one drink.

Details

Assist with collecting food tickets from participants race bibs at entrance to food tent OR stand at exit to food tent to keep participants moving in the same direction. (one way in/one way out)
Participants must have a Food ticket from their race bib or volunteer wristband to enter food area.

Beer Garden

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

Volunteers will assist with checking IDs, pouring beer, supporting vendor and making sure no beer leaves the designated area.

Breakdown/Clean Up Crew

Details

Assist with clean up of race course and main venue to include; folding soft fencing, breaking down tents, stacking poles, picking up trash and placing equipment near Magic Sports trailers for staff to load. The goal is to beat last year's record for fastest clean up!
