This position requires excitement, enthusiasm, and your attention. Volunteers will greet runners and observe them as they cross the finish line, providing assistance to sit down or walk to the medical area if needed. Volunteers will also present runners with their finisher medals. Setting up, taking down, and detailed cleanup of your area in our beautiful city park are also included in their responsibilities.

Sweat Check & Shirt Exchange

Details

As a courtesy to the participants, gear check service to all registered athletes is offered. Volunteers will collect gear bags at the race start, ensuring all bags are labeled and tightly secured. They will then help transport the bags to the finish line area. Volunteers will organize athletes’ gear bags and distribute the bags to the runners after completion of their race

Sometimes a runner's racing shirt just doesn't fit as expected. In addition to distributing sweat check bags at the end of the race, volunteers will also organize shirts and assist those needing to exchange their shirts.

What goes up, must come down. Pack it in, and pack it out. Volunteers will assist vendors with load-out of all supplies; break down of tables, chairs, and tents used for food distribution, merchandise, etc.; and assist with all aspects of clean up to ensure the park is left better than when the event started.

Food is a great way to celebrate after a race! As a volunteer, you will set up the service area and prep and serve food and drinks to the runners. When all have been served and everyone is happy, this area will need your help in taking it all down, packing it all up, and a keen eye to cleanup so nothing is left behind in our beautiful city park.

High School Aid Station Challenge Voting

Details

All aid stations on the course are staffed by high school cross country and track teams. At the end of the race, volunteers will enthusiastically encourage runners to vote for their favorite aid station. Volunteers will then tally the votes and relay the name of the winners to the announcer. Assist in setting up the area, and a keen eye for clean up is also required.

Welcome our volunteers and set an inviting tone to a highly anticipated and exciting day! To enable as many vehicles to park in the designated area off of Chambers Avenue, volunteers will monitor the entrance to the parking area and assist in directing volunteers to park in an organized manner. In addition, they will direct vendor traffic flow to the unloading/drop off area, and then to the vendors' parking area.

Details

Directing runners and keeping them safe along the route are key in the position. Duties include a thorough understanding of the race course and the authority to stop pedestrian and vehicle traffic to clear a path for oncoming runners. You ensure all runners have passed you safely and are accounted for. Standing for long periods of time is required, so wear your comfiest footwear.

Pre-Race Prep and Set-Up High Priority

Details

Be a part of the backbone of race preparation and set-up. Volunteers will be needed on the Saturday before race day to prep supplies and equipment.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Picking up and preparing race day trucks
- Retrieving, cleaning and sanitizing drinking water tanks

Saturday Evening Pre-Race Set Up High Priority

Details

It's almost time! But first, we need a few things set in place. Your job is to unload supplies and set up tables and fencing. Also included is setting up the finish line, arch, scaffolding, and beer fencing. Please bring work gloves and dress in accordance to the weather.

Rock Ledge Ranch. Park on the west end of Chambers Way near the intersection of Chambers Drive. Once parked along the road, walk north on the dirt road into the ranch where you will find Bob and the others with bright yellow shirts.

Race Day Operations - On Site High Priority

- unload supplies and assisting in setup of tables, chairs, fencing

Be the first to see how the race begins! Trash and random articles of clothing and gear tend to appear with every human gathering, and we need you to make sure it gets picked up and properly dealt with. Provide the appearance of us never having been there. Be a sweep behind the final runners via trail and road. Enjoy a beautiful day with a lovely, long, nature appreciating stroll. Big Horn/Little Horn Kids' Race Setup Medium Priority

We need your excitement and enthusiasm to mark the course and help these mini competitors stay on track! Your job is to help set up the course with signs and/or flagging, direct runners on-course at key points along the route making sure these kid competitors stay on the route, and sweep the course ensuring all children and any stray items of trash or clothing have been collected and accounted for.

Bring your excitement, enthusiasm, and cheerful disposition to this high energy bundle of anticipation. Before the race, you will check in these mini competitors and make sure they get the correct bibs for their big race. You will educate kids on the route (one loop for Little Horns, two loops for Big Horns) and answer any questions about the race from parents and kids alike. After the race, we need your keen eyesight and attention to detail to hand out race medals and post-race treats, and work with the Kid Wrangler volunteers to corral the kids as they await their parents.

You get a fun job! Direct your energy and excitement to getting these young runners to chase you from the start line to the finish. Your job will be to stay just ahead of the lead runner so they follow the correct course as they keep you within their sights. You are required to be faster than the kids; not required but could be fun...a kid-friendly costume.
