THE RACE

Register online or in person at GSSM.

Early Bird Registration  Ends January 31, 2026.

Regular Registration - February 1 through race morning

 

The 5K is hosted by FWD, a student organization that promotes healthy, balanced lifestyles and supports mental wellness. FWD builds school pride and community through activities that encourage empathy, social connection, and emotional wellbeing. 

 

Each year, FWD organizes the GSSM 5K for Mental Health Awareness to highlight the importance of mental health. Proceeds from this year's race benefit Night to Shine, a prom experience for individuals with special needs, ages 14 and up, in Hartsville.

After that date, shirts will be first-come, first-served.

The Race starts and Finishes at the Governor's School in Harstville, SC
401 Railroad Ave.
Hartsville, SC 29550

 

The course is stroller and pet friendly.
Pets are not allowed inside the school building.

The Cause

Proceeds from the GSSM 5K for Mental Health Awareness support Night to Shine Hartsville, a special prom night for people with special needs, ages 14 and up. Hosted by local churches, Night to Shine rolls out the red carpet with dinner, dancing, and a crowning moment where every guest is celebrated as a king or queen.
