Description

We’re coming together to support one of our own 💙

Our friend and team member Ryan’s dad, Eddie, is battling cancer. To help, we’re hosting a Virtual 5k, and you can submit your times now through October 10. We have 2 suggested paths to run, or you can run your own 5k (3.1 miles).

Path 1 or Path 2

Then, join us on October 11 for a fundraiser at the brewery! We’ll hand out medals, host a silent auction & raffle, and donate $1 per pint sold that day to the cause.

In Ryan’s words, “My whole life I have watched my dad do so much for me. Ever since I was a child he would be there through every up and every down I had in my life no matter how difficult or how much money it cost. He traveled to all of my cross country races, all of my baseball games and help me move multiple times since I graduated college. He worked so hard to do everything he could to make sure I had a good childhood despite how difficult it could be at times. When he came home from a routine check in and told me the doctors told him he had cancer, it was one of the scariest things I have heard. I saw him get angered, frustrated and sad about it and I didn't know what to say. He has done so much for me in my life in more than words can describe and I want to be able to do something for him and everyone else who has experienced someone in their life be affected by cancer.”

In Eddie’s words, “No one looks forward to the yearly medical check-ups for many reasons, especially as a person gets older. I always feel pretty confident that I'll get a clean bill of health as I live what I call a "healthy lifestyle". I exercise each and every day, eat a balanced diet, get plenty of sleep and don't stress about the stupid stuff and have a positive attitude. Throw in 7 years as a beach lifeguard and I feel I got this. As a retired Physical Education teacher, I have tried to live the lifestyle I spent 4 decades teaching my students to try to live.

Well, things don't always work out how you plan them. This spring I got the diagnosis no one wants to hear from their doctor: "You have cancer". Anger, confusion and frustration are the three words to describe how I felt. With that said, I will beat this. I'm not done with this life I am living.”

Let’s rally for Eddie and show Ryan’s family some love! 🏃💪
