FEBRUARY 11th, UM Golf Course - Event - 515 South Ave E

First off, what is a Skiathlon???

It's a historic event in nordic skiing that combines classic and skate skiing in one event.  You switch skis half way through.  You start with a mass start classic race and then switch skis to skate.  Skiers keep their skate skis in a coral next to a flag with their bib number.

For the Badger Skiathlon we will offer a U18 race start and a separate adult race start.

Classic first, Skate second.

RULES:

  • You must switch skis
  • You have to ski classic skis (waxable, grip, skins).
  • You can only use items that are in your transition area (no going to the car or lodge)
  • Classic then skate (two slightly different courses)
  • Classic will include the tee box climb and stegasauras

The classic course is a perimeter lap that also includes the big tee box hill and stegosaurus mound.

The start and transition area is on the east side of the netting on the driving range.  The finish is on the west side of the driving range net.
