Start of Race: Between Mel’s Sport Shop and the fishing access. Arrive 10 minutes early for pre-race meeting. 

Description:
The Green Lake Road Race is a 12 mile run that can be completed individually, as a 2-person relay or as a 4-person relay. 
Race start time is 7am. The start location will be between Mel’s Sport Shop and the fishing access.  Plan to be at the starting line ten minutes ahead of your start time for the pre-race meeting.
You should have your bib number attached on the front of your shirt just above the waist to get the best read-rate.  Bibs located anywhere else will have a lower read-rate. Bib numbers need to be visible when you cross the finish line.
Water stop locations: 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 mile marks.  Gatorade available upon request.   Trash cans will be spaced along the course.  Please DO NOT drop cups on the course.  
Two utility vehicles will be patrolling the course.  Extra water will be available on the carts. 
Upon finishing the race, refreshments will be available for each runner.
Times will be available at www.pickleevents.com. The award winners will be posted online. 
Awards presentation will be behind Zorbaz on the deck.  Estimated time of 9:15 am.

 

Special instructions for the relays:
Bus service will be available for the relays.  The first bus stop will be located in the Spicer Legion parking lot.   The bus will leave at 7:05 am, just after the race starts.  Cheer on the runners as you pass them.  The bus will make laps around the lake dropping off runners at their starting point and returning runners to the finish.
If you do not wish to use the bus service, please plan your return trip to the finish line or home.
Relay spots will be at the same locations as 2023.  Restrooms and water available at each exchange point.
2-person relay exchange location: 6 mile mark (run across the mat).
4-person relay exchange locations: 3.25 mile, 6 mile mark, 9 mile mark (run across the mat).

Race Entry Includes:
  • Race shirt (guaranteed if registered by June 23rd)
  • Refreshments after the race

Race Day Schedule:
  • 6am - Packet Pick Up - Zorbaz parking lot, look for the tent
  • 7am - Race Starts - arrive to the start line 10 minutes before the start of the race for a pre-race meeting
  • 7:05am - The relay bus takes off to drop off relay participants (be sure to cheer on the runners as you pass!)
  • 9:15am - Estimated start time for awards, behind Zorbaz on the deck
Runners Shirts:
Runners pre-registered by June 23rd will be guaranteed their shirt size. After June 23rd race shirts are on as first come first served basis until sold out.

Divisions:
Men: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 -74, 75-79, 80 - 84 and 85+
Women: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 -74, 75-79, 80 - 84 and 85+
Family: Average time for 2 runners of the same family (A. Husband-Wife | B. Parent-Child | C. Brothers and/or Sisters)
Relay Teams:  2-person, 4-person.  No breakdown by gender or age.
Times will be available at www.pickleevents.com.

Awards:
  • Medals for the top female and top male 
  • Medals for places 1-3 in each division

FAQs for Relay Teams

Who wears the bib numbers?

The first runner will start off with the bib.  As you enter the exchange just hand the bib off to your next runner.  The bib number must be visible when the last runner crosses the finish line.

How do we get to the transition areas? 

Willmar Bus Service will provide shuttle service.  The bus will be at the Spicer Legion just prior to the start of the race.  The bus will leave right after the race starts.  Chear on the runners as you pass them.   The bus will make drop offs at each relay spot.  The bus will circle the lake to pick up runners that need to return to the finish. 

How do we get back to the finish?
Willmar Bus Service will provide transportation to and from the transition area.  You can also have a friend or family member can pick you up or drop a vehicle near the transition area prior to the race.

Where are the transition areas?
Transition areas are located at 3.5, 6 and 9 mile points.  Look for the sighs and volunteers.

What do we do in the transition area?
The runner will entering the transition area and the next runner in your team will take off.
