Food insecurity is unfortunately a prevalent issue, not only in the state of Massachusetts but in our local community. Data from The Greater Boston Food Bank in partnership with Mass General Brigham (2023), indicates that Western Massachusetts has the highest rate of food insecurity in the state. We hope that this holiday season our community can come together to tackle this issue. The Mahar Key Club traditionally has collected food items and delivered meals within the town. However, our team hope to expand the opportunity to all community members while also participating in what we hope to be a family fun event. Donations and proceeds from this event will be made to the local food pantries in the Orange/Athol area. This is a 5k event with the option to walk or run. Also, it will be professionally timed by the Tri-State Timing Company.
