The 5K is run on the local township roads and includes scenic views of Amish farms and an Amish school. The course can be challenging for the cross-country runner because of the hilly terrain. The 1K is the first part of the 5K run and is on level roads. The 1K can be run or walked. Come join us!
This year our focus is on Strawberries! Puja, from Nepal, found out that strawberries can be a wonderful way to increase her income. She says "I first brought one strawberry plant and planted it in a pot and I was able to get good fruit. My family and I decided to do the whole field after that.”
Puja used what she learned about climate adaptation and leadership, and the funding she received, to experiment with growing strawberries. When her first plant thrived, she explored ways to grow berries on a larger scale in a field behind her family’s home. Plastic covers help plants retain moisture, even when rain is unpredictable. As Puja Magar’s field has flourished, so has her confidence in sharing farming knowledge. Longtime friend, Ishwor Man Magar used his funding to buy a cow. He now sells milk at a local dairy and uses manure on his farm. Puja saw her friend’s success and decided to raise a cow of her own. In turn, she has helped her friend seize the ripe opportunity to grow berries on his own land.
Your registration money will go towards families in Nepal that want to raise strawberries!
