2026 Seeley Lake Biathlon is Cancelled

Unfortunately, due to a lack of snow, we are canceling the 2026 Seeley Lake Biathlon.  We will miss you all this year, but hope to see you next year! Hoping for some snow this winter so we can all find our happy ski place!  I am not ready for ski season to end.

We are offering three options to registered participants:

Donate your registration fee.  You do not need to do anything.  We are a non-profit, all volunteer club and would greatly appreciate the donation!

Defer your registration to next year's Seeley Lake Biathlon on Feb 6, 2027

Refund Request a refund of your registration fee

To Defer or Request a Refund:  Go to runsignup.com/profile, then find Seeley Lake Biathlon under your upcoming races and click "Manage Registration", scroll down to find the "Defer Registration" or "Request a Refund" button.  Please complete your deferral or refund request no later than Feb 28, 2026.  Processing of these requests may take up to two weeks.  Refunds will be for race fees only, any processing fees paid to Runsignup are non-refundable.

Here Are Your Options:

You understand that events are expensive, even when cancelled, and you want us to keep your registration fees to help cover our costs. We deeply appreciate your generosity and look forward to seeing you at an event soon.

We understand. We hope you can join us next time.

Description

The Seeley Lake Biathlon, February 7, 2026, is a "citizens biathlon" race.  No prior biathlon experience is required.  Racers must provide their own ski equipment. Seeley Lake Biathlon will supply rifles, targets and ammo.  Racers will experience the thrills and challenges of biathlon. Firearm safety and safe range procedures take priority over race times. All participants must attend a Gun Safety Briefing prior to range practice or race participation.  Safety briefing times for each race listed below.

Racers can register for 3K, 7.5K, or 13.5K (new race distances for the mid-length and long race). On-line registration only for the Seeley Lake Biathlon, there will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.

  • 3K Categories: Adult & Youth
  • 7.5K Categories: Adult & Youth
  • 13.5K Categories: Adult

Categories for the Races will be broken into heats based on the number of participants, targets, and shooting safety protocols.
For All Races, each racer will ski a loop, shoot prone, ski a loop, shoot standing, and ski another loop to the finish line. A 150 meter penalty loop will be skied for each missed shot.

All events are freestyle. There are no separate categories for classic or skate. Snacks and drinks will be provided to racers; donations suggested for non-racer food.

MANDATORY Gun Safety Briefing and shooting range training will be provided on race day as follows:

  • 13.5K participants from 9:00am to 10:00am
  • 7.5K participants from9:30am to 10:45am
  • 3K participants from 1:00pm to 2:15pm

This race is a cooperative venture between Seeley Lake Nordic Ski Club, a 501C3 nonprofit, and the Wilderness Sportsman Club of Seeley Lake, a 501C4 nonprofit organization. All proceeds go to these non-profits for youth and event development. Our goal is to provide an introduction to biathlon and firearm safety to all participants, with a priority on youth and the young at heart.
