COURSE
This is a gorgeous course that we only have access to once a year—at the Pine Run. It's a challenging route on undulating, grassy trails and double track jeep roads through beautiful piney uplands and Lake Iamonia bottomland. There are some tough hills, but you'll be rewarded for your climb with stunning views of wildflowers, the lake, and miles of pine forests.
A course map is shown below, but for a long route through a large forest, a "point-by-point" view just isn't possible, but the map can give a general sense, and here are some additional details:
- Both courses start and end near the Beadel House, running counter-clockwise in an oblong twisted circle.
- The course is liberally marked with pink flags (and where needed, we have directional signs and volunteers).
- There is one out-and-back that's about 3/4 mile long for the 20K. It starts around mile 5.0.
- The 20K water/Gatorade stations are at roughly miles 3, 6, 9, and 11, and the 14K crosses those same water stations.
- The 20K arrives back near the Beadel House for the first time at about mile 10.8 ( XX for the 14K)—but you still have a ways to go (about 1.6). The 20K heads down "The Horseshoe" that takes you briefly toward the Van Brunt Arm of Lake Iamonia before coming back up a hill that you will remember. The 14K skips The Horseshoe and heads straight to the trail back into the forest.
- Shortly after hitting mile 12.0/, everyone reemerge from the forest and take a left on the main gravel road (where you started 12 short miles ago). You finish at the Beadel house shortly thereafter, giving you lifetime bragging rights as a PINE RUN FINISHER!
AID STATIONS
There are water and electrolyte stations at three points on the course (every 3ish miles).
Hang around post race to enjoy music and refreshments (BYOB).
