About the Cause
Lillie Ann Heggins dedicated over 40 years of her life to education in North Carolina. Even after retiring, her passion for learning never stopped—she continued to serve her community by running a daily after-school program, guiding and mentoring students outside the classroom.
Lillie Ann firmly believed that every child deserves the opportunity to pursue higher education, regardless of their background. To honor her legacy, the Lillie Ann Heggins Scholarship was established to support graduating high school seniors as they take their next step toward college or vocational training.
Each year, the scholarship awards two $1,000 scholarships to deserving students, helping to ease the financial burden of continuing their education.
For Lillie Ann, nothing mattered more than family and seeing young people succeed in school and in life. This scholarship continues her lifelong mission—to inspire, empower, and invest in the next generation.
