2026 Wild & Rooted Trail Run

Date: Saturday, October 17th, 2026

Bib Pickup: 8:30 AM – 9:45 AM

10K Start: 10:00 AM

5K Start: 10:15 AM

It was so fun, we decided to run it again! For the second year in a row, runners and walkers are invited to explore the breathtaking natural lands of Mt. Cuba Center with one-of-a-kind courses that wind through meadows and forests, alongside ponds, and across the same scenic terrain that Mt. Cuba’s conservation team manages to restore and protect native habitats.

This year we will host the same 5K route but also add on a challenging 10K course that takes you deeper into the “wild side” of Mt. Cuba.

Register for the 5K or 10K by October 2nd to receive a Wild & Rooted Trail Run shirt!

Race Course

Participants will traverse some of Mt. Cuba’s scenic trails—part of the 1,000-acre property dedicated to ecological restoration, environmental education, and scientific research. Unlike the manicured gardens, these trails showcase a “wilder” aesthetic that reflects the natural beauty and biodiversity of the regional landscape. Featuring sweeping meadows buzzing with pollinators, a restored pond, views of Appalachian Piedmont topography, an abundance of native trees and birds, Mt. Cuba’s collaboration with The American Chestnut Foundation and more, this is a truly unique way to support conservation and witness the work you're supporting with your run.

Note: Both courses include variable surfaces such as grass, mulch, gravel, and dirt, with moderate hills and rolling terrain. Those participating in the 10K should expect some additional hills that are not a part of the 5K course.
