Sunlight Mountain Resort and Cripple Creek Backcountry are teaming up again to bring the Moonlight Race Series back for the 2021/22 season! With so much success in the inaugural year we couldn't be more excited to see what year two has in store for us.
Racers will have the option each night to race on a long or short course with multiple fast accents and downhills. The two courses will be the same for all three races so participants can see their progression in fitness, skinning, skiing and transitions throughout the season. Come out to push your own best time or just move casually with friends.
We all know that we try a little harder when that bib is strapped on so come out and get your suffer fun on! There will be schwag, beers and hot chocolate waiting for you at the finish line!
Not feeling ready to race? Head uphill before the race with an instructor from Cripple Creek Backcountry for on snow instruction in using pin-bindings, skinning technique, how to transition and other ski touring basics. This short, group instructional skin will meet at the registration tent at 4:50pm and will start skinning at 5:00pm. We'll do a short lap up start of the race course before transitioning and getting back to the base in time for the start. You can hop in the rec division, or just head back uphill and watch the action! All ages & abilities are welcome!
Gear for the clinic: Bring your own (skis, boots, bindings, skins & poles required) or call CCBC at least 1 day before the event to reserve a demo. Any uphill alpine touring gear will work (no cross country gear please).
All racers are required to have a headlamp and a helmet.
Remember to stay on our designated uphill routes while training.
Racer check in will be between 5:15pm and 5:45pm in front of the main lodge.
Check out the google map below under Race Website. Yellow is up and red is down. The short course will be the first accent and the first decent all the way to the bottom.
