Selfless Elf 5k

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is holding its annual Selfless Elf 5K race on Saturday December 20.  Unfortunately I will be unable to participate in the race itself (I will be coming off some minor surgery).  However I am helping to raise funds for the Foodbank this year.  It has been a challenging 2025 for the Foodbank.  We received cuts in both USDA and State of Ohio budgeted funding.  Plus the government shutdown and suspension of SNAP benefits drove lots of people to use food pantries that are supplied by the Foodbank.  Earlier in November the Foodbank had the largest distribution day ever in Foodbank history - even higher than any single day during the COVID response.  Our own pantries at our Akron and Canton locations increased hours of operation to help meet the need.
