We have all been touched

Why we are participating in the Road America Walk/Run event for the American Cancer Society:

Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice began in 2007 with the mission to provide compassionate care and quality of life to all those in need.

Sharon was a Sheboygan Falls Community member who lived life to the fullest, gave back to the community and cared for others.  Her vision was to provide a compassionate, dignified quality hospice program for those in her community.  Sharon died of cancer in 2004, but her vision and legacy continue on.

Sharon and her husband, the late Joe Richardson II, had been looking for just such a project and began to help plan and build a hospice center. When Sharon’s condition declined in 2004, she entered a home hospice program. Impressed by the loving care she received, the Richardsons strengthened their ambitions to continue building an Inpatient Center in Sheboygan County.

A few days before Sharon died, she was visited by Dr. Matthews and Mary Mueller, RN, NP. They shared with Sharon and Joe the preliminary plans for the hospice. Joe promised Sharon he’d see it through and name it in her honor.

In 2007, three years after Sharon’s death, the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice opened its doors to serve the public. We are a local, non-profit provider of hospice and palliative services, and our “Caring for Our Community” mission has expanded. We are proud to serve the people of Calumet, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc, Ozaukee, Sheboygan and Washington Counties.

We walk and run to support the legacy of Sharon and everyone who is faced with dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
