My journey

Hello-

I ask for a little of your time & support for what’s been a journey for me, thankfully a positive one.

It's been a cherished post Treatment period of time for me (diagnosis July 2009).  From having a very young family to watching my kids become taxpayers :) I’ve been blessed.

I give a tremendous portion of my successful remission to Fred Hutchinson's treatment protocol at the time.  These protocols at their infancy are driven by grass root groups, Defeat has been a portal supporting such great work.

So, in 2026 I dip my foot back into fundraising.

Thank you!

Mike

Welcome to my fundraising page!

I am participating in the 2026 Defeat Multiple Myeloma 5K / 1 Mile Run & Walk on Sunday, June 28. Each donation plays a part in bringing myeloma treatment options to patients faster and helping fund research to find a cure for this cancer. Together, we are building community, supporting survivors, remembering loved ones lost, and funding science that is giving new hope to patients. We are committed, we are strong, and our impact can be enormous.

Please join me in this fight and increase our impact by making a donation to my page today; 100% of all funds raised by participants like me will go directly to advancing multiple myeloma cancer research at Fred Hutch Cancer Center.

What is Multiple Myeloma?

Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells found in bone marrow. Normal plasma cells help the immune system fight disease, but when plasma cells become cancerous, they grow out of control and can produce a tumor called a plasmacytoma. If someone has more than one plasmacytoma, they have multiple myeloma.

Why support this event?

Defeat Myeloma’s mission is to raise awareness of multiple myeloma while supporting research that seeks to discover new treatments, improve the quality of life for myeloma patients, and ultimately find a cure for this devastating form of cancer. Funds from the 2026 Defeat Myeloma race will continue to support research at Fred Hutch involving the use of engineered immune cells called CAR T cells, an approach that has shown very promising early results for patients.
