We are the sponsors of the Marion County Race Series for 2024.  The Series is bringing together 9 races that are fund raisers for non-profit organizations that provide many important services and programs to all those who live in Marion County.  We are volunteering to help them grow their races by sponsoring the Marion County Race Series.  We are asking you to join us in helping them by either running or walking in the Marion County Race Series!

WHY JOIN THE MARION COUNTY RACE SERIES?  By joining the 2024 Marion County Race Series for only $10 you will get a number of great "perks" including:

1.     You will get an awesome Marion County Race Series shirt!  These are super soft short sleeved shirts that you will be proud to wear and will look great in as well!  Shirts will be passed out at the first series race you attend. Remember, we welcome both runners and walkers!

2.     As a Race Series and Club Member you will get a $5 discount code to use for each participating race series race that you register for online before race day.  Please know that you must register here for the Series first BEFORE you register for a participating race. We will then provide you with the coupon code that is for your use only.  Each Series race will have a unique discount coupon code.  We will share those codes with you as they become available to us.  This is because some Series races will not open online registration until closer to the time of their events.  With 8 races participating in the Series, that could save you up to $40 in entry fees!  The more races you join, the more your savings!  Please note you must register in advance for the series and for a series race as there will be no race day online or in person registration discounts.

3.     You Get Participation/Performance Points Recognition Benefits!  The Marion County Race Series will award series participation and performance points to series participants using the Age Grading System from the World Masters Association.   By dividing the WMA time in seconds by the series runners time in seconds then multiplying by 100 we will award points to the nearest whole point.  It allows us to have a friendly competition between various ages and ability levels as the “playing field” is made more even.   We will track these points and keep a running tabulation during the series and post them on our Series web page and Series Facebook page.    At the end of the season, we will provide all runners and walkers with a nice “memento” of their series performances and earned points.  Special awards will be given to the top ten male and female finishers!

4.     You Are Becoming A Member Of A Local & National Organization! When you join the series you will be able to enjoy the benefits of being a member of the local Marion County Running & Walking Club and a member of a National Club (The Road Runners Club of America) that promotes running and walking and the healthy lifestyle that such activities provide.   Throughout the year, Marion County Running and Walking Club will sponsor various opportunities for our members/Race Series participants to join fellow members for informal meet ups for runs and walks, attend races together, as well as participate in club meetings with informative guest speakers on various topics related to running and walking.

5.     You get a FREE! Series Wrap Up Awards & Celebration   Marion County Running and Walking Club will host a ”2024 Marion County Race Series Awards Celebration” in which all Series Participants and their family members are invited to enjoy a very informal afternoon or evening of picnic style food, desserts, awards and fun!  This will be held on a date shortly after the conclusion of the last series event at a location that is to be announced in the future.
